Where We and Our Competitors Stand |
The system we are working on, FogEr iGlasses, consists of three main components: - smart glasses with two built-in HD cameras; - a processing unit (possible, smart phone); - control module for device setup and configuration. Contrary to our main competitors who recognizes and proceeds static scenes - shapshots, our solution is mainly based on processing video streams or dynamic scenes transferring them to the processing unit or smart phone, following scene and objects recognition. The output returns to the customer in audio (for blind people) or vibration (for deaf-blind people) form. |
-
OrCam MyEye2: A
popular system that is very compact and helps partially
blind people to
read bools and newspapers, product labels, to recognize faces, etc. It
does not
work for totally blind or deaf-and-blind people. It is
"off-line device" attached to person's glasses.
Price: around $4,500 (sold by Amazon.com).
- Iris Vision: A decent system for visually impaired persons that provides functionality similar to MyEye2, as well as shares its key limitation, not working for totally blind or deaf-and-blind people. Price: around $3,300. |
